Job Description:

Seeking an experienced Professional Engineer (PE). Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized and has a strong desire to work at a high level of accuracy. We offer a professional environment to expand skill sets into other areas of development. This position performs civil and geotechnical engineering duties in support of the design, construction, and management of public and private projects. This position has functional supervision over assigned personnel.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Preparing reports, designs, plans, and specifications for civil improvements on projects ranging from residential, commercial, industrial, or other similar projects.
  • Design, permit, inspect and manage development of water system, septic system, or storm management facilities.
  • Select, monitor, and inspect appropriate construction materials for use in projects.
  • Work with agencies of jurisdictions and clients to obtain planning and/or building regulation approval.
  • Liaising with relevant professional staff such as architects or structural engineers. Assist in responding to questions from contractors, public agencies, and officials, or general public regarding policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors.
  • Administer and management private and public works for bid contracts and the various bidding components on projects.
  • Managing projects. In conjunction with the Project and Construction Managers, assist in solving field problems.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports concerning different disciplines within Civil Engineering.
  • Perform Traffic Studies to determine existing and projected level of service (LOS) standards on roads and intersections for project development.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and two (2) years of Professional Engineer (PE) experience including relevant project design and construction management; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, certifications, and training in lieu of specifically required qualifications listed above.
  • Skills in performing engineering computations and in preparing engineering designs.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Washington for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Certification as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training or the ability to obtain Washington state registration within one year of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check and work on public works projects.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with a computer aided drafting program (such as AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge and use of Washington State Energy Code compliance.
  • Phone System (Mitel) & Microsoft Suite Skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and standards for design, bidding, and construction.
  • Skill in analysing, interpreting and preparing reports.
  • Skills in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in exercising professional engineering judgment to achieve results consistent with objectives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while standing or walking.
  • The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be occasionally exposed to machinery with moving parts.
